our story

Our story is a love story.

India 2016

We met in India where the perfect balance of fate and chance brought us together.  Nik, a restless wandering Vancouverite seeking adventure in India.  Kappy, from Ludhiana, India's largest city North of Delhi.  He was a friend of a friend who ended up bearing the responsibility of personal tour guide, neither of us expecting to fall in love and be married 9 months later on a beautiful beach in Goa.

Vancouver 2018

When we aren't enjoying the bustle of our busy Main Street neighbourhood, you can find us dining around the city with friends and family, running the seawall,  going for a hike in North Van or enjoying a weekend getaway to one of the local islands.  No matter where we are, adventure is always around the corner and we make it fun.

chappals chappals

We've teamed up to bring a touch of India to Canada.  I found my first pair of chappals travelling in Mumbai, the Bali Slides.  I quickly fell in love with them and found that their durability allowed me to live in them (well, at least during Vancouver's warm weather or if travelling abroad in dry climates).  We now work with a group of artisans from Kolhapur, India. The artisans are paid fair wages and are able to send their kids to school and support their community. We really believe in the importance of slow fashion and that it will truly make a difference in the fashion industry. The leather used is buffalo and not cow as cows are sacred in India. Because the chappals are 100% leather, you need to give the chappals a few wears. As time goes by, the extra wear makes them all the softer.  Dress them up or dress them down, their simplistic style and enduring quality make these sandals the next classic staple for your wardrobe.
